Hansi Flick Reveals What Lamine Yamal Told Him About His Injury After Being Substituted Against Celta Vigo

Hansi Flick has addressed concerns over Lamine Yamal following his injury during Barcelona’s La Liga clash against Celta Vigo at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

Yamal had given Barcelona the lead with the only goal of the match in the 39th minute, but shortly after, he went down and requested to be substituted before heading straight to the dressing room—raising concerns among the coaching staff and fans alike.

Speaking after the match, Flick admitted that the full extent of the injury remains unclear.

“We will have to see tomorrow what happens. We will have a clear diagnosis and then we’ll know more. We have to accept it—it’s not easy. It’s unfortunate for us because he is a very important player, just like João Cancelo. I hope the injury is not too serious, and we will see tomorrow,” Flick said.

When asked about Yamal’s chances of being fit for the upcoming El Clásico, the German coach remained cautious.

“We have to wait until tomorrow. We need to understand exactly what it is. I believe something happened because he felt it, and after scoring a goal, he wouldn’t leave the pitch without reason. We hope it’s not serious, but we must wait,” he added.

Flick also revealed that Yamal had informed him of the issue after leaving the pitch.

“He told me that he felt something, but in the end, we have to wait until tomorrow. I can’t say anything definitive right now because he wasn’t in the dressing room, and he was also outside after the match, so I need to wait,” Flick explained.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported that the initial diagnosis could point to a hamstring tear in the left thigh. If confirmed following medical tests, the injury could sideline Yamal for at least five months.
