Atlético Madrid Hold Advantage Despite First-Leg Win as Barcelona Eye Comeback; Two Players Suspended for Second Leg

Atlético Madrid secured a 2–0 victory over Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final at Camp Nou on Wednesday, but the tie remains far from decided with a decisive second leg still to be played.

The return fixture, scheduled for next Tuesday at the Metropolitano Stadium, will determine which side advances to the semi-finals, with Atlético currently holding the upper hand.

Despite the deficit, Barcelona are not expected to back down, as the Catalan side will look to mount a comeback and fight for qualification in Madrid.

However, both teams have been dealt setbacks ahead of the second leg, with two players confirmed to miss the match due to suspension.

Barcelona will be without defender Pau Cubarsí, who received a straight red card in the first leg following a challenge on Giovanni Simeone.

Atlético Madrid will also be missing defender Marc Pubill, who picked up his third yellow card of the competition after fouling Robert Lewandowski.

The second leg will take place on April 14 at the Metropolitano Stadium, where Barcelona will need to win by more than two goals to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
