Tottenham offer €70 million to sign Barcelona star

Tottenham Hotspur have signed six players so far this summer, most notably Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha, and it appears they still have ambitions to sign more.

The English team, with their new signings, put in a superb performance in the UEFA Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain, leading 2-0 until the 85th minute before Luis Enrique’s team scored two late goals and secured the title on penalties.

Tottenham are seeking to sign their seventh signing from Barcelona to compensate for the long-term absence of star midfielder James Maddison, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will miss most of the new season.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham has set its sights on Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo, taking advantage of the Catalan club’s financial crisis and the Spanish player’s dissatisfaction with his situation under Hansi Flick.

Dani Olmo hasn’t been a regular starter for Barcelona since joining the team, with the German coach preferring other players over him in midfield. The strong return of Gavi, coupled with the brilliance of Fermin Lopez, will only worsen his situation in the new season.

All of this will prompt Dani Olmo to consider the offers he’s been receiving throughout the summer, the latest of which came from Tottenham Hotspur, who offered a whopping €70 million, guaranteeing him a starting spot in a team that aspires to make a strong showing in the English Premier League next season.

Although it would be a sporting defeat for Barcelona if they agreed to sell Dani Olmo just one year after signing him, the substantial sum would help resolve the club’s financial crisis and help secure new signings.
