Referee’s report reveals Barcelona received two red cards in Alavés clash

The match report of referee Miguel Ángel Arias confirmed that FC Barcelona received two red cards during their clash against Alavés at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Saturday, as part of Matchday 14 of La Liga, which ended with a 3–1 victory for the Catalan side.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will be without two members of Hansi Flick’s coaching staff for the upcoming two matches after they were sent off during the Alavés encounter.

The dismissals involved assistant coach Markus Sorg and goalkeeper coach José Ramón de la Fuente, who were expelled by the Madrid referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias due to protests against his decisions.

In the case of the goalkeeping coach, the red card came in the 65th minute for, as stated in the referee’s report, “vociferously protesting a decision from his technical area directed at assistant referee number 1.”

Near the end of the match, Markus Sorg, Flick’s first assistant, was also sent off. According to the referee’s report, it was due to “leaving his bench, making gestures, and protesting a decision taken during the match.”

Both coaches are expected to receive a two-match suspension from the disciplinary committee under Article 127 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code, which regulates protests against officiating decisions.

This means they will miss Tuesday’s match against Atlético Madrid at the Estadi Olímpic, as well as next Saturday’s fixture against Real Betis at La Cartuja.
