Hansi Flick Requests an “Emergency” Signing from Barcelona After El Clásico Defeat

Barcelona suffered their third defeat in their last five matches across all competitions — this time in the season’s first El Clásico. However, more concerning than the result itself was the team’s overall level of performance.

The Catalan side appeared noticeably inferior to their fierce rivals in several areas on the pitch. While much of that can be attributed to injury problems, head coach Hansi Flick is reportedly convinced that fresh blood is urgently needed.

According to reports, Flick has informed Barcelona’s board of directors of his desire to add a new central defender to his squad for the second half of the season.

As per the outlet Fichajes, the German coach has urged the club to take immediate action following Sunday’s defeat to Real Madrid.

The report adds that, after witnessing his back line repeatedly exposed at the Santiago Bernabéu, Flick specifically requested the signing of a left-footed centre-back in the upcoming winter transfer window. In response, Deco and the Camp Nou executives have begun evaluating potential options.
