Gavi chooses former Real Madrid star as his idol
Regardless of the competition, Barcelona and Real Madrid boast some of the best football players in history. From the likes of Lionel Messi to Cristiano Ronaldo, true greats have played for the two legendary clubs. Even today, new faces are eager to make their mark on the two giants’ annals.
However, it’s truly rare to see a player from either club mention the other’s player as a role model or inspiration. Yet, in a recent interview, that’s exactly what Barcelona midfielder Gavi did.
The 20-year-old Spaniard chose former Real Madrid midfielder Isco as his role model. It’s a brilliant choice, and it shows how much Gavi appreciates great players, even if they’re from rivals like Real Madrid.

Interestingly, Isco also plays for the Spanish national team alongside Gavi. Currently playing for Real Betis, the Spaniard is known for his technical skills and the qualities that any midfielder would love to possess.
As for Gavi, the midfielder is still young and has a lot to offer Barcelona. While Isco has achieved great things with Real Madrid, Gavi will forge his own path at the Catalan club in the future, which could include potential clashes with Los Blancos from time to time.
