Barcelona’s unexpected response to Manchester United’s €70 million offer to sign Fermin Lopez

Manchester United are preparing a €70 million (£61 million) bid for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, according to Spanish media reports.
Ruben Amorim has already bolstered Manchester United’s attacking options this summer with the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, while the club is also looking for a new striker.
Meanwhile, Fermin Lopez made 46 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing 10 assists.
According to Catalan newspaper Sport, Manchester United have now expressed interest in Firmino and are expected to submit an offer of €70 million (£61 million) for the 22-year-old.
The report claims that Barcelona and Fermín’s entourage are aware of the situation, and a transfer could happen in the coming weeks, after he received significant interest this summer from Chelsea, Arsenal, and clubs in the Saudi Professional League.
However, the midfielder has confirmed he wants to stay at Barcelona.
But Barcelona are still facing financial difficulties, and Sport claims the Spanish champions would be willing to sell Fermin if United follow up their interest with a €70 million (£61 million) bid.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick wants Fermín to stay at the club.
Fermin signed a new contract last October keeping him at the club until 2029, with a release clause of €500 million (£436 million).
